Best man speech examples

Good evening, everyone. I’m Chris, and I’ve had the privilege of being Rob’s friend for eighteen years, and the challenge of being his flatmate for four of them. I’ll keep this short; Rob has seen my notes and cut most of them.

First, thank you to Helen and Mark for hosting such a beautiful day, and to everyone who travelled. Special thanks to the bridesmaids, who have organised today with the precision of a military operation.

Rob and I met at our first job, where we were the two newest, most useless people in the office. He once spent a full morning trying to fix the printer, which turned out to be unplugged. He has never lived it down, because I have never let him.

But here’s the thing about Rob. The same week, I got some bad news from home, and he was the one who drove me four hours up the M6 at midnight without being asked. He is reliable in the ways that matter, even if he isn’t with printers.

When he met Emma, he told me she was “way out of his league,” and for once he was right. Emma, you make him funnier, braver and far better organised. Thank you for taking him on. We are all delighted.

Hello, everyone. For those who don’t know me, I’m Marcus, the best man. Being asked to be best man is a great honour, a bit like being asked to help someone move house: you say yes before you understand what you have agreed to.

Jake is a man of many talents. He can cook exactly one meal, chilli, which he has made for every occasion since 2012: birthdays, break-ups, Christmas. When he first cooked for Lily, he made chilli. When he met her parents, he brought chilli. I’m told the proposal was on a Tuesday. You can guess what was for dinner.

Lily, I want you to know what you’re getting: a man who will always turn up, always help, and always, always bring chilli.

But I’ve never seen Jake as happy as he’s been these past three years. Lily, you’ve introduced him to vegetables, to punctuality and to what I believe is called a “second recipe.” We’re so grateful.

Hi everyone, I’m Leo, Ali’s brother and best man. I’ll be quick, because I’m standing between you and the dancing.

When we were kids, Ali saved up for a year to buy a telescope, then spent every clear night showing me the moon, even though I only wanted to go to bed. He has always wanted to share the things he loves.
